Gochang-gun intensively fosters "Apple Mango" as a new subtropical high-income crop.
The Gochang-gun Agricultural Technology Center selected "Apple Mango," which is a subtropical fruit suitable for the local agricultural environment and is known as a relatively low-labor and high-income crop.
The county invested 300 million won in the total project this year to supply Apple Mango to provide seedlings and thermal materials to farmers, and provides 50% of the facility houses and heating facilities essential for subtropical fruits.
In addition, on the 24th of last month, it signed an MOU (business agreement) with Allgorun Co., Ltd., a domestic tropical fruit distributor.
Gochang-gun and Allgorun plan to select excellent farmers for local apple mango cultivation and introduce high-quality apple mango varieties through grafting support to contribute to local agriculture and economic development.
Hyun Hyun-yeol, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We are pursuing Apple Mango pilot projects as items that can quickly respond to increasingly severe climate change and increase farmers' income."
